Finding the best skin care items for use on sensitive skin

Many people with sensitive skin cannot use popular cleansers or common types of soap. These people usually seek skincare products that will not irritate their delicate or dry itchy skin. Increasingly, this means opting for sensitive skincare products that are mild and made from all natural or organic ingredients.

For thousands of years people have used soothing, all-natural ingredients straight from their gardens. Some hypo-allergenic cleansers are oatmeal, honey and lavender essential oils or lavender floral water. Lavender flowers are very pretty and easy to grow. To make a lavender floral water, simply boil some lavender clippings in water and strain out the plant parts.

You can add this floral water to some dry oatmeal for a fantastically soothing and moisturizing skincare treatment. Simply apply to the skin and massage. After a few minutes, rinse with warm water and pat dry. Lavender essential oils are a wonderful relief for skin suffering from irritation, as it has built in anesthetic and antiseptic properties.

In fact, lavender and other skin soothing essential oils can be added to a carrier oil and make the best moisturizers for those with skin that suffers from irritation. Lavender essential oil is the only one that can be applied undiluted to even the most irritated skin. Though it initially has a stinging effect, this quickly subsides as the naturally soothing antiseptic properties start to work.

Many so-called natural skin care products aren't really natural at all

Many of the so-called natural skin care products aren't really that natural upon closer examination. Too often these products have a minimal amount of natural ingredients added to a synthetic base that is rich in unnatural chemicals. Though these skincare products are marketed as being for sensitive or allergic skin conditions, they are likely to cause irritation. Most synthetic skin care ingredients are petroleum-based and are known to overly dry and stress the skin.

Additionally, many products that are nearly one hundred percent natural are not fragrance free. Though it is often possible to attain skincare preparations scented with essential oils, synthetic fragrances are man made and should be avoided if you are sensitive to synthetic ingredients. Truly sensitive care products are made with only botanical ingredients and are either fragrance-free or scented with pure essential oils.
