Anti Aging Skin Care :: Anti Wrinkle Skin Care

Anti wrinkle skin care treatment solutions

Aging skin is characterized by sagging, dryness and wrinkles. These wrinkles often display themselves in crows feet by the eyes and laugh lines around the mouth. While Botox has revolutionized anti wrinkle skin care, it is not without cautions. Botox requires the injection of the cosmetic substance into chosen areas of the skin with a thin needle. The Botox antiaging skin care treatments are somewhat painful, but the pain does not last. The effect is that the muscles of the face are paralyzed, making them unable to move so they can't form lines or wrinkles. The treatments last from three to six months, but should not be rubbed because the placement of the botox can be disrupted. One major caution about Botox is that the substance used in the injections is botulin toxin, the same fatally poisonous microbe that makes some home canning methods unsafe.

An alternative to Botox that seems to provide good skin care results for some people is hyaluronic acid treatment. It is a product made from animal tissues, and occurs naturally in human skin, providing the resiliency of youth. Hyaluronic acid is reduced in skin over time due to pollutants and sunlight. The anti aging serums that contain this skin care treatment should be applied gently two or three times a day. They should relax laugh lines and plump up the skin to reduce fine lines.

Wrinkles can also be treated with Retin-A

Another treatment for wrinkles is Retin-A. This is a treatment that fades agespots and smooths wrinkles, but also increases sensitivity to the sun and causes dryness. These problems were solved by the introduction of alpha hydroxy acids, which work like Retin-A without the side effects. Sometimes alpha hydroxy acids (AHA's) cause redness, but that is usually when the percentage of AHA's in a skin care product is over 10%. The way AHA's work is by dissolving the substances that hold dead cells together, causing the dead skin cells to sluff off. AHA's help the skin retain moisture by removing the outer cracked layer of dead skin.

Of course there are many anti aging wrinkle cream formulas available on the market. One ingredient often found in these skin creams is coenzyme Q10, a strong antioxidant. Like hyaluronic acid, coenzyme Q10 is naturally occurring, but the quantity in the skin is reduced in aging skin. Since it is an antioxidant, it helps the skin stand up to the free radical damage caused by the sun and pollutants, which are the main cause of wrinkles in the first place.
