Acne skin care for different types of acne treatments
Acne skin care really doesn't differ that much from caring for normal, healthy skin, except for the addition of an antiseptic treatment that will keep skin free from infection so that it can properly heal. Healthy skin starts with clean skin. If you've tried all kinds of acne skin care products with little or no improvement to you skin, you may be using cleansers that are too strong for sensitive acne skin. Many times blemishes are made much worse when harsh chemicals further irritate the skin.
A simple cleansing program is often the best place to start for those suffering from acne breakouts
For this reason, it is strongly recommended that those suffering from acne breakouts try a course of simple cleansing using the simplest, natural cleansers available. You can make a wonderful, gentle cleanser by combining 1 cups warm water and ½ cup oatmeal. Optionally, you can add 1 tablespoon glycerin and 1-2 drops tincture of benzoin or lavender essential oil for their antiseptic properties.
After blending the ingredients you can store the skin-care preparation in an air-tight container for several weeks. This type of skin care treatment is so gentle that those who have allergic reactions to even the mildest of soaps have no problem with it. By adding lavender essential oil you can add an anesthetic quality that can be very soothing for inflamed skin. Oatmeal is a very soothing ingredient that helps skin to retain moisture.
Once you've cleaned your skin with a simple cleanser, you can also apply some lavender essential oil directly to the blemish areas. Lavender essential oil is the only essential oil that can be applied 'neat', to even broken and inflamed skin. Be aware that lavender will produce a slightly stinging sensation initially; but this soon fades as the anesthetic properties take effect. Lavender essential oil is great for acne, clogged pores and all kinds of skin, as it has powerful antiseptic properties.
After you've committed to at least two to three weeks of this kind of simple cleansing, take some time to evaluate any improvements of existing acne. If there has been significant improvement, simply continue using this basic, all natural approach to acne treatment. If you don't see marked improvement, then perhaps it is time to consider a popular acne treatment, such as Proactiv Skin Care or Obagi.
